My Low Self-Esteem Story (1)
Self-esteem was something I struggled with, as an adolescent and while I was stepping into adulthood.
Due to some events that formed my childhood experience, I had many lies built up in my head, about my identity.
You see, self esteem is a function of knowing and acknowledging your personal identity, especially your values and abilities, and getting the courage to operate in that truth.
Self-esteem has a lot more to do with an individual’s strengths and abilities, than their weaknesses.
That is, if you can leverage and focus more on your strengths than you focus on your weaknesses, you will boost your self-esteem to a great extent.
Low self-esteem, comes in when your weaknesses are amplified above your strengths. It is when you allow your weaknesses to cloud your mind so much that they overshadow the abilities on the inside of you.
When you allow yourself to be defined by your weaknesses more than you allow your strengths to define you, you are gradually digging the pit of your self-esteem.
On a general note, low self-esteem s when your voice, courage and confidence are being challenged by a voice of ridicule, from within.
There are many things that can choke someone’s sight and mind, such that they would be disabled them from seeing or perceiving their true identity.
When there are negative noises without, it will be difficult to pay attention to your strengths.
When discouraging words and destructive criticisms fill the atmosphere, you are likely to get carried away, and lose sight of who you are, what you are capable of, where you are and where you are going to.
Stick with me, as I begin to share my self-esteem story with you, in series...
Watch out for the next edition of my blogpost.
