Effects of Comparison on Patience

One common error we make and that usually terminates our interest in waiting is comparison. When we compare ourselves to others and use their achievements as a yardstick to measure our own progress, we tend to lose confidence in ourselves and feel that we are not doing well. This feeling usually takes away our happiness and set us on a useless, pointless and unhelpful race. Sadly enough, it increases our worries.

It is good to emulate others and be inspired by their achievements but you know well when you are crossing the line of peace of mind. Be inspired but do not suck life out of yourself to do beyond your capacity. Understand that everybody's timing is different.

Patience is not a single virtue but it's a combination of others such as discipline, humility and kindness.

It is related to discipline in terms of being able to take charge and control your reactions to situations and endure it without complaints; humility in the sense that you must accept that you are not more important than others and kindness because you have to remain happy with people even when they seem to be conspiring against you or they seem to be moving faster than you.

The dangers in comparison is that you may loose your own potentials and what is meant to be yours may pass you by when you try to compete with others.

What's your drive? You are obviously not in competition with anyone. Each person is supposed to be driven by the map of where they are going to. When you fail to draw a map for yourself and blindly follow other people's plan, you are apparently saying you have no destination and so anything can drive you. Be disciplined enough to stick to the requirements of your own journey to your destination.

Patience is a selfless virtue and it gives you a liberating breath while enhancing your mental freedom because it helps you keep calm in every situation you find yourself.

Patiently trust the process
Life happens in stages and each stage comes with both good and bad offers. Our birth into this world brought good tidings to friends and families but it was not without delivery pain. In the same way, when we are pressed hard on both side, it is an evidence that something good is just around the corner. Just patiently wait for it. Patience is never too much.

Although, not everyone who suffers will get to see light at the end of the tunnel because I am not ignorant of the fact that some persons are consciously responsible for what they are going through which is why I would admonish you not to be lazy or idle. Patience is not passively waiting for nothing. It is actively going through the process required to achieve your goals. Failure to take responsibility and do your part may be equal to endless struggles.

Remember, there is peace and contentment in being patient.
